While some enemies do fight at range, most of them want to get up close and personal, so creating space and chipping away at their health is the most common form of combat. Some enemies will have choreographed melee attacks that you can parry if you time your block correctly, and others will have unblockable strikes that must be avoided entirely.

Video Game Review: Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

Graphics is where the game shines the brightest. The world of James Cameron is effectively brought to life here, both with flora and animals you’ll recognize from the films, but also new creations, which manage to feel like natural extensions of Pandora. It’s easily one of the best looking games of 2023, which is even more impressive for a first-person title. It’s very cool to see the natural world react to your presence, and once you unlock the ability to fly, the massive map opens up — though unfortunately flight lacks the feeling of speed you get on the ground.

Video Game Review: Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Combat feels different, and it’s designed to dissuade you from taking on too many enemies at once since they don’t take turns attacking you, and it’s very possible to get overwhelmed when a third or fourth foe joins the fray. It’s pretty straightforward as yellow attacks can be blocked while red can only be dodged, though the timing can be a bit tricky.
